The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)awarded Photodigm a contract to develop laser light sources required for atom optic applications. Current applications are restricted to laboratory demonstrations using expensive and bulky research lasers.
During phase I, Photodigm successfully produced the first generation of 852nm DBR laser diodes meeting or exceeding the performance goals. Line widths less then 700 kHz and optical powers exceeding 250mW were accomplished.
